National Transport Safety Center signed a cooperation memorandum with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) to enhance safety levels in the Kingdom’s railway transport sector. The memorandum aims to strengthen the safety of railway transport systems through the coordination of activities and efforts related to safety investigations of major accidents and reports, data exchange, safety research, and raising public awareness of transportation safety. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Center by its CEO, Captain Tai bin Abdulrahman Al-Shammari, while Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) was represented by its CEO, Dr. Bashar bin Khalid Al-Malik. Areas of cooperation include supporting investigations into railway accidents and incidents, conducting studies and research related to transportation safety, coordinating safety investigation and reporting activities, providing technical cooperation in safety studies and investigations, exchanging information, data, and services during investigations, issuing safety recommendations, organizing joint awareness campaigns, conducting specialized training programs to enhance technical expertise and emergency response readiness, and participating in conferences and seminars. The signing of the memorandum comes as part of the Center’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with relevant entities and benefit from national expertise and best practices, contributing to achieving the objectives of the transport sector in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
